Years ago I recall USO being prohibitively expensive. Today, even their top-end isn’t prohibitive (or at least price-competitive with Nightforce, et. al.) I realize this is one of their ‘economy’ scopes, but it was still truly disappointing. Optical quality is ‘fair’ – not as good as a comparably priced Vortex or Leupold. Getting the diopter setting to ~0 backed the eyepiece out far enough that the scope cap provided falls right off. (The scope came with the diopter ring fully screwed ‘in’, the dial isn’t calibrated, but your first peek through the scope will probably look even worse than it really is. The reticle is nothing special, so it suffers from the usual FFP problem of disappearing at low magnification. This is offset somewhat by the illumination, but I wish the illum was just a dot rather than lighting up the whole reticle (which is basically a giant busy “dot” at low magnification. Turrets are capped, adjustment clicks are pretty crisp – not Nightforce, but better than Leupold or Vortex. I did not shoot any box tests with this one because it was so underwhelming that I don’t know what I’d mount it on. This is pretty comparable to the Monstrum FFP scope that costs about 1/3rd as much. The Monstrum has better ‘clicks’, but this scope has illumination. If I ever order one of the “better” USO scopes, I’ll be darned sure to do so from somewhere with a good return policy! Read more
